Tokiwaya Ryokan has been operating for four centuries, with its history dating right back to the Edo Period 370 years ago. It has four types of natural onsen water and the water quality and quantity is the best and biggest in Nozawa Onsen. We are the only accommodation that has a license for drinking Onsen water. It might sound unusual to drink Onsen water, but Japanese people drink it as it has lots of healthy minerals. One of the most famous public Onsen, the O-yu is right next to us. Come and experience our very traditional accommodation at Tokiwaya Ryokan.
Your meals will be served at a private restaurant room and complimentary coffee is available at the lounge.

We had another excellent ski holiday in Nozawa. Thanks for all your help.
Could you please pass on my thanks to the people at the Tokiwaya? I was out and about getting bus tickets and didn’t get to say goodbye.
They are very nice hosts and the whole experience at the Tokiwaya is fantastic.
This was the first trip to Japan for our friends and they loved the Tokiwaya. We will be in touch for the next one! Thanks Again!!

Nozawa - amazing snow - but getting too crowded - good mix of terrain - plenty of nightlife (but hard to get into places due to number of tourists).
Tokawaya - amazing hotel - amazing staff - amazing service and food (but don't tell anyone as we want to make sure we can stay there again next time)!
Your service - very good - easy process to book - good options presented for our budget. No complaints!

I can’t thank you enough for your assistance with my recent trip to Japan! From the first email and all through the process you were professional, helpful and informative. You found us the perfect hotels in the best locations and you saved us by finding a driver when I called you after we missed our train! I have already recommended you and your excellent service to my friends who will be visiting Japan this coming summer.
Thanks again and best regards,

I had a great week at Nozawa Onsen The snow was great and the mountain had enough challenging terrain to keep it fun. To our relief, they didn't groom every run to within an inch of their life like they do at Shiga Kogen and they didn't make a huge fuss about going out of bounds and doing tree runs. The terrain is varied enough that you could enjoy the week without getting bored. Tokiwaya ryokan was very special. The owner/Manager, whose name I've unfortunately forgotten, went out of his way to help and tried very hard with his English. His unassuming friendly politeness was sriking, even in Japan. We loved the very traditional restaurant and onsen and the location was central to everything. The traditional village layout of Nozawa really makes you feel like you're in Japan. I'd rate it way above most Japanese ski resorts I've visited. Only negative is that there are already lots of Australians visiting (although fortunately not working there on lifts etc like Niseko) and it became incredibly crowded on weekends when Japanese from Tokyo and Nagoya arrived. In terms of the booking it went smoothly and they knew all about me when I arrived.

Our stay at Tokiwaya Ryokan was a amazing experience of Japanese culture and hospitality. The breakfasts and dinners in the Tokiwaya restaurant consisted of traditional Japanese cuisine and would rival the Tetsuya Restaurant in Sydney. The service was excellent and the rooms were clean. Only criticism is the lack of cupboard space in the room. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Tokiwaya Ryokan for the second year in a row and hopefully we will get a chance to go back again. Japan Snow Accommodation's service was very professional and their advice was helpfully. Kevin McCann
